A profile of the cape.
A stretch of the cape from the water on a recent summer's day.
Odd vertical stratification can be seen near the center of the cape inside a small cave created by wave action when the lake was much higher.
Photos from some years ago of a strange artifact lodged into a crevice in the sedimentary rock just above the water line. This is claimed to be a bronze ornament from the stern of the ship Bertolina that went aground at the cape in 1884 and which was then thrown against the limestone face in a violent storm. The crew were reported to have been saved by a local fisherman from Mary's Cove. This piece from the stern (if the story is true) was thrust into the rock and became deeply lodged in the crevice. Over the years a sort of crystalline calcareous formation has built up around it from the water seepage from the rock. (the exact location won't be revealed here as parts of the bronze work have already been removed or vandalized).
